Mission

We believe in folk music!

The Sounding Board, Inc., founded in 1973 and established as a not-for-profit in the state of Connecticut in 1979, is committed to the collection, preservation, and presentation of traditional and contemporary folk music of all types. The Sounding Board is one of the oldest continually running music series in New England. We host our concerts in a listening-room environment that leads to meaningful music experiences between audience and performer. We are a fully volunteer-run institution, and believe deeply in our mission.

All are welcome at the Sounding Board. Our current home for presenting concerts is the Universalist Church located on Fern Street in West Hartford, Connecticut. The Sounding Board does not have a fixed home, but partners with venues and locations that contribute to our accessible, inclusive, and affordable evenings of folk music.
